Shades

Somewhere between the white and black
is the reality that gives life and meaning
The dark outline drawn on white parchment
a shape unfulfilled, undefined and empty
With the pressure from the creators hand
graphite depth, charcoal, ink and pigment
the shading, the result of shadow and light
Without the softened lines and textures of 
complexity evoked from art and inspiration
we are but vacant forms trapped by dark lines.
