I Walk

Today I walked
in the steps of a year ago
moving across
a plain through the past
feet displacing
dew droplets from blades
memories cut
deep through the present
dark remnants
personal pain oozing through
healing wounds
welts burying sanguine sadness.

My treading
left temporary black marks on the
silver patina
covering the grazed green
sad thoughts
like shadows of the trees
dark forms
reaching far when light is low
my movement
walked away shadows of pain
into the light
presence my present at peace.
